Hiker injured at Manoa Falls dies
An autopsy will be held to determine the cause of death of a 19-year-old woman who died Friday from injuries she sustained two days earlier at Manoa Falls.
The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Kristi Takanishi.
A group of hikers reported hearing a thud and found a female unconscious at the base of the Manoa Falls Wednesday night. They brought her out of the water.
Firefighters hiked up the trail and airlifted her to Manoa District Park where she was taken by ambulance in critical condition to the hospital.

May she RIP. How sad. Slipping can happen so fast.
Thud! That ain’t good. Too bad, too young to die!
Godspeed to her family & friends.
agree..may God be with her soul.
A local or visitor??
Does it matter? The poor young woman is dead. Question is, why was she there alone?
It does to help find out if this was an accident, possibly suicide or possibly even homicide if there was others involved. Was she depressed? Drug problems? Most reasonable people would not be hanging out over Manoa falls after dark as it is incredibly dangerous as most residents know, or for children their parents should have told them how many people have died from falls at Manoa falls.
STOP!
Give me a break! You are watching too much TV.
So. KITV says Kristi was a Kaiser Grad !!!
Not only was she a Kaiser grad, she was the top valedictorian of her class, an accomplished dancer and a pre-med student at University of Washington.
Shame on you, inverse! And, by the way, she was with a friend when she fell.
Sad. May God Bless.
Sincere condolences to the family. So young, so soon. What a tragedy to endure when least expected! RIP!
What was she doing there alone?
Lot’s of people hike alone. Maybe not the best choice but I know people who do it all the time.
she was with a friend, but it took her friend a while to get down after she fell
My deepest ALOHA to her ohana.
Of course, this is going to cost the State and therefor us.
Yes, this story about the death of a bright young woman is really all about you and your tax dollars. I mean, how dare she? Bet you’re already complaining to her relatives.
