Police investigate threats to schools in Kaneohe, Leeward Oahu
Police are again investigating alleged threats made to public schools in Kaneohe and Leeward Oahu Monday.
Increased police patrols were sent to Campbell and Castle high schools and King Intermediate School today after administrators met with police after receiving the threats.
No lockdowns were planned at the three schools, the Department of Education said.
At Campbell High School in Ewa Beach, Principal Jon Henry Lee posted a letter on its website addressed to parents Monday saying: “the safety and well being of all students, staff and families is of paramount importance to us.
“Campbell administration was made aware of an alleged threat to the school late today (Monday). In response to the alleged threat, additional security staff will be monitoring and patrolling the campus. There will be no changes to the school schedule.”
A nearly identically worded letter also was posted on Castle High School website Monday by Principal Bernadette Tyrell.

The school principals gave no further details. However, the Campbell website said the letter was triggered by a bomb threat.
Police Monday night classified the case as first-degree terroristic threatening, but have not released any other information.
A police report said area schools reported finding “a written threat made at various schools using widely dangerous means.”
The threats were received between 12:17 to 1:59 p.m. Monday, the police report said.
On Friday, five Leeward Oahu school were placed in lockdown for more than an hour after a gun threat was received at Campbell High School.
Students were locked in their classrooms for about an hour Friday morning at five schools in the Ewa-Kapolei area. The schools were Campbell High School, Ilima Intermediate and Kaimiloa, Pohakea and Ewa Beach elementary schools.
At Castle, the Department of Education Friday increased security personnel and police and officers patrolled nearby areas after school officials were made aware of a threat.
However, no school activities were canceled Friday or today at Castle or Campbell.

THIS IS JUST “INSANE”! PARENTS need to TURN-OFF their TELEVISIONS and MONITOR INTERNET USEAGE and STOP THE “SOCIAL MEDIA” CRAP… “HOLLYWEIRD” and “SOCIAL MEDIA” are destroying children. There’s just TOO MUCH VIOLENCE and CHILDREN ARE BECOMING INSENSITIVE AND PROGRAMMED. Children need to return to THE LIBRARIES and learn to READ and RESEARCH.
Hehehe, keyboards are pretty cheap and a new one would fix the sticky caps-lock problem. Just wondering, do you actually know any teenagers?
Same as the screen name, needs to be in caps.
what?
Parents need to parent and not be “friends” with their kids.
Fark is right that social media has led to numerous problems of all kinds. But it allows me the opportunity to instantly comment and correct things reported in SA. Many appreciate that service.
You and who else appreciate this?
Palani
Most do. Perhaps one or two do not. Yes, Palani does appreciate me but he is not alone.
Troll. Has to be — no one real could be that clueless. Best not to feed it.
yep allie’s had many tacos and burritos. the opu is massive.
The schools, police — and especially you — have no idea who made the threat in the first place. Who said anything about it being a kid? In your manic, loud scramble to be first in the Blame Someone line, you’re just sticking a kick me sign on your own back.
Star-Advertiser may as well make up a template so they can recycle this story every week or so. Just plug in the names of the schools, add the current date and then you’re pretty much done.
Although the windward side is not my hometown, I do go to the Koolau Center a lot, in beautiful Temple Valley, the gateway to Kuuloa, Punaluu, Kaaawa, Laie, Kahuku and Sunset Beach. I did not know Castle High School was in Kaneohe; it really is per Google Maps. Of course Kailua High School is in Kailua. however I thought Kalaheo High School was in Kaneohe. Nope as wiliki would argue, Kalaheo High School is also in Kailua, per Google Maps again. Last I checked there was a Lanai High School, however no Niihau High School nor Kahoolawe High School. There is a Molokai High School. There is no Oahu High School, because there is Oahu College, aka Punahou School. Speaking of which, I wonder if King David Ige would go for shipping all the homeless to either Niihau or Kahoolawe. Just contract out the shipment to Young Brothers, as Aloha Air Freight would cost a lot more. Dagnabit King Ige, start acting your age or we will dethrone u !!!!!!!
I am not sure that Punahou is relevant any more.
Only within their own political-circle. Right or Wrong–they cover and defend one another’s malfeasances. I know more nationally and internationally famous persons–who, daily, contribute to human-kind and this planet and went to grade schools and high schools in Hawaii; and some attended U.H. (undergrad and graduate) as well… And, I’m not talking about “Comment Sections”; I’m addressing “mindless texting” and Facebook–on which children do not need to be focused. Most High School graduates today are, in fact, functionally-illiterate and can’t read or spell, and without a Cash Register–can’t count change. In Hawaii–more than 40%. Parents today have every excuse not to be a PARENT.
Perps on the move again. One little slip up and they’ll be caught.
Lolos with nothing better to do. Catch their thrills.
It’s like the likely arsonists who set fire to various locations around Oahu. Sooner or later this serial threatener will get caught.
